VEDANTA IRON & STEEL: GST DEMAND AGAINST ESL STEEL LTD

• ESL Steel Limited, a subsidiary of Vedanta Iron And Steel Limited, received a Demand-cum-Show Cause Notice from the Office of the Joint Commissioner, Central Goods and Service Tax & Central Excise, Ranchi on August 25, 2026. • The notice proposes a GST demand of ₹15,74,26,450, comprising IGST of ₹7,87,46,884, CGST of ₹3,93,39,783, and SGST of ₹3,93,39,783. • The demand relates to alleged short payment of GST under Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) for FY 2020-21 to FY 2022-23. • Interest and penalty have also been proposed. • ESL is examining the notice and will take appropriate steps. • The company does not envisage any significant financial and operational impact.
