PAYTM : NPCI INTRODUCES MDR ON UPI P2M TRANSACTIONS ABOVE ₹2,000

• National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) introduced a Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) of up to 0.4% on UPI Person-to-Merchant (P2M) transactions exceeding ₹2,000. • The MDR will be effective from October 15, 2026. • This is expected to generate additional revenue from merchant business for payment transactions that were previously free. • No charge will be levied on customers for UPI payments. • The company will make further disclosures if required once the circular becomes effective and its impact is ascertained.
