TIRUPATIFL : OBTAINS INDUSTRIAL LICENSE FOR DEFENCE MANUFACTURING OF EMPTY SHELL BODY
• Tirupati Forge Limited has received a strategic industrial license under the Indian Arms Act, 1959, for manufacturing of all major sizes of empty artillery shells. • The license covers sizes including 105mm, 120mm, 122mm, 125mm, 130mm, 152mm, and 155mm. • Under the 155mm category, it covers HE M107, HE L15A1, ERFB, ERFB Base Bleed (BB), and ERFB Boat Tail (BT) variants. • The company has an initial production capability of 150,000 units annually, with plans to scale up output. • Pilot manufacturing runs are scheduled to commence in December 2026, transitioning to full-scale industrial commercialization. • This move aligns with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, aiming to strengthen India's sovereign ammunition supply network.
