TATASTEEL : RECEIVES FAVOURABLE TAX ORDERS REDUCING TAX EXPOSURE BY RS 642 CRORE

• The company has received a favourable order from the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal for FY2008, allowing the claim of deduction for interest expenditure, reducing tax exposure by ₹215 crore. • For FY2009, a similar favourable order was received, allowing the claim of deduction for interest expenditure and reducing the tax exposure by ₹427 crore. • The aggregate tax exposure for the company has reduced from ~₹1,901 crore to ~₹1,259 crore following these orders. • The company believes these orders will have a persuasive impact on pending litigations for FY2010 to FY2015.
