MRPL : HIGH COURT UPHOLDS CESTAT ORDER ON CENVAT CREDIT

• The High Court of Karnataka has dismissed an appeal by the Department against a CESTAT Bangalore order. • The CESTAT order was in favour of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL). • The issue involved denial of CENVAT Credit for capital goods from April 2010 to December 2014, with an amount of ₹1,73,76,67,082 plus applicable interest and penalty. Impact: MRPL wins tax dispute involving CENVAT credit for capital goods.
