CMLL : CIL REVISES DIESEL COMPENSATION ON MINING CONTRACTS WORTH OVER RS 12,151 CR

• Western Coalfields (WCL) communicated on 21 October 2026 the revised diesel price compensation method finalised by Coal India via letters No. 456 and 466 • 100% of the increase in diesel price over the price assumed at tender to be compensated, based on bulk diesel price actually paid including transport cost • Compensated diesel quantity now based on standard consumption norms for work done, instead of the fixed contract formula • Revised method applies retrospectively from 20 March 2026; amounts received under interim arrangement to be reconciled • Fortnightly payments up to 75% of value of work done to continue, with final settlement in monthly bill • Eight contracts covered across WCL and NCL; diesel prices have risen about 86% over pre-March 2026 levels
