JSW STEEL Q2: APPROVES ₹7,500 CR CAPEX FOR 5 MTPA CAPACITY EXPANSION AT SAMBALPUR; TO SET UP UAE SUBSIDIARY
• Capacity Expansion: Approved 5 MTPA expansion and upgradation of existing steel facilities at Sambalpur, Odisha • Project Investment: Estimated capex of ₹7,500 Cr through JSW JFE Steel Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture with JFE Steel Corporation, Japan • Funding: JSW Steel and JFE Steel to contribute ₹3,750 Cr each • Existing Capacity: Sambalpur integrated steel plant currently has 4.5 MTPA capacity and operates near full utilisation • Project Timeline: Implementation expected to begin in April 2027 and be completed over approximately 3.5 years, subject to approvals • Growth Strategy: Expansion aims to improve economies of scale, increase value-added steel production and enhance export opportunities • UAE Expansion: Approved incorporation of a wholly owned subsidiary in the UAE for overseas investment, trading and business development in steel, mining and metals • Initial Investment: Proposed equity subscription of AED 100,000 in the UAE subsidiary
