MIDHANI : SIGNS MOU WITH HWB AND BARC FOR NICKEL AND COBALT RECOVERY

• MoU signed on 27 October 2026 between MIDHANI, Heavy Water Board (HWB) and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) • Framework to collaborate on production and recovery of cobalt and nickel from plant reverts • Aims to maximise resource utilisation, cut dependence on primary mineral resources and promote environmentally responsible metal production • Cobalt and nickel are critical metals used in battery technologies, EVs, stainless steels and superalloys • Collaboration seeks to strengthen domestic supply chains for critical metals and unlock value from under-utilised plant reverts
