MOTHERSON : PARTNERS WITH NTU SINGAPORE TO ADVANCE SPINHEAT TECHNOLOGY
• Collaboration is between NTU Singapore and MSSL (S) Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based subsidiary of Samvardhana Motherson International • Spinheat is a magnetic induction technology that can cure industrial coatings in minutes using significantly less energy than conventional oven-based methods • Technology uses magnetic nanoparticles embedded in adhesives and resins; an alternating magnetic field generates heat directly within the coating, avoiding heating the entire component • Early lab results show bonding strength of conventional 24-hour oven curing achieved in about an hour, with potential to cut energy use and CO2 emissions • Aim is to industrialise the technology for real-world production, including resin coatings across automotive and aerospace components • No financial or deal value disclosed in the release
