RPTECH : CUSTOMS ORDER CONFIRMS RS 2.15 CR DUTY DEMAND

• Principal Commissioner of Customs (Import), Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai passed order dated Nov 3, 2026 confirming demand from SCN No. 118/2026-27 dated May 25, 2026 • Confirmed demand of ~₹2.15 Cr comprises differential duty of ~₹1.08 Cr and equal penalty under Section 114A, plus applicable interest • Demand arises from alleged wrong classification of imported goods under Section 28(4) of the Customs Act, 1962 • Differential duty demand of ~₹87.4 L has been partially dropped by the order • Penalty reduced to 25% of duty if duty and interest are paid within 30 days of the order • Amount to be classified as a contingent liability; company in discussion with legal advisors on filing an appeal before CESTAT
