NATIONALUM : ANUGOLA SMELTER EXPANSION WORTH OVER RS 30,000 CR
• Brownfield smelter expansion at Anugola, Odisha to add 0.5 MTPA capacity, nearly doubling output from 0.46 MTPA to ~1.0 MTPA • Project entails an approved investment of approximately ₹30,000 Cr; key statutory approvals and partnerships in place • Agreement signed with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) for licensing proprietary energy-efficient smelting technology • Expansion needs additional 1,100 MW; NALCO partners NLC India in a 50:50 JV for a 4 x 270 MW (1,080 MW) captive thermal plant • 200-250 MW of renewable energy envisaged for integration into the project ecosystem • Smelter expansion targeted for commissioning during 2030-31; RPDAC meeting held to expedite land acquisition and rehabilitation
