GAIL : COMMISSIONS 1.25 MTPA PTA PLANT AT MANGALORE
• Wholly owned subsidiary GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited commissioned 1.25 MTPA purified terephthalic acid plant in Mangalore SEZ, Karnataka • Plant was originally set up by JBF Petrochemicals and acquired by GAIL in 2023 through CIRP under an NCLT-approved resolution plan • Commissioning follows extensive revival and refurbishment involving engineering, technology and operational challenges • PTA is used in polyester fibre, yarn, PET resin and packaging; the plant is expected to reduce India's import dependence • Facility is near New Mangalore Port with dedicated logistics; GAIL will market the product under brand G-Tex
