Delhi Approves New EV Policy, Phases Out Petrol Bikes by 2028
The Delhi Cabinet has approved a new EV Policy 2026-30, allocating ₹15,000 crore over four years to accelerate electric mobility. Under the policy, registration of new petrol and CNG two-wheelers will stop from April 1, 2028, while only electric auto-rickshaws will be registered from January 1, 2027. The government will also provide 100% road tax exemption for electric cars priced up to ₹30 lakh and 50% tax relief for eligible strong hybrid vehicles to boost cleaner transportation.
