Mumbai received nearly half of its average July rainfall within 24 hours, triggering widespread flooding, landslides and severe transport disruption. The IMD issued a Red Alert for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad, while Mumbai–Pune rail services were suspended after multiple landslides in the Bhor Ghat section, with several trains cancelled or diverted. Schools remained shut, flights were disrupted and parts of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway were closed. Authorities deployed 15,000 personnel as emergency teams responded across the city.
