JSW Steel Gets ₹696 Crore Penalty Quashed by Orissa High Court; ₹1,473 Crore Demand Sent for Reassessment
JSW Steel secured major legal relief after the Orissa High Court quashed a ₹696.32 crore demand linked to alleged mineral dispatch shortfalls at its Jajang Iron Ore Block in Odisha. The court also set aside a separate ₹1,472.69 crore demand raised in August 2025 and sent the matter back to authorities for fresh assessment in accordance with legal precedents. The rulings, delivered on October 16, remove the immediate demands, although the larger liability remains subject to reassessment.
