Moonshot Launches Kimi K3.1 Pro, Beats US Frontier Models on 6 Benchmarks at Up to 80% Lower Cost
Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI launched Kimi K3.1 Pro on October 23, challenging leading US AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic. In Moonshot’s evaluations, the model outperformed every listed US frontier model on six of 14 benchmarks. Its API costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens—50% cheaper than Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 and 80% below OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra.
