Pakistan’s LPG Crisis Deepens as US Pressure Drives Iran Border Closure

Pakistan’s LPG shortage is worsening after border closures with Iran disrupted imports amid US efforts to cut off Iran’s land trade routes. The disruption has pushed the price of a 12-kg cooking gas cylinder up 56% to 7,000 Pakistani rupees from 4,500 rupees. Pakistan imports around 7,000 tonnes of LPG daily from Iran, leaving supplies vulnerable to border restrictions. Hundreds of tankers have been stranded, while traders have been advised to suspend new orders, raising fears of further price increases.
