AM/NS India’s Hazira Plant Set to Become World’s Largest Steel Facility by 2029

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India plans to expand its Hazira steel plant in Gujarat from around 9 million tonnes to 24 million tonnes of annual capacity by 2029. The expansion is expected to make it the world’s largest single-location integrated flat-steel plant. The project will significantly increase India’s steelmaking capacity, supporting rising demand from infrastructure, automobiles and manufacturing. At full capacity, Hazira’s output would be comparable to Brazil’s annual crude steel production, underlining the scale of the planned expansion.
