Industry Leaders Urge Karnataka Government to Act as Pro-Kannada Groups Demand Hiring Data From Tech Firms

Pro-Kannada activists from the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike visited Bengaluru technology companies, demanding data on how many employees are Kannadigas and how many come from outside the state. The group sought workforce figures, recruitment records and hiring criteria, raising concerns over local employment. The visits sparked concerns about intimidation and disruption in the IT sector. Industry leaders, including former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai, have urged Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar’s government to crack down on vigilante groups, warning that such actions could damage Bengaluru’s business environment.
