Mukesh Ambani’s Jio in Talks With Comcast, Charter for Technology-for-Equity Deals in US
Reliance Industries-owned Jio Platforms is exploring partnerships with US broadband giants Comcast and Charter Communications to license its proprietary wireless broadband technology in exchange for potential equity stakes. Jio’s Unlicensed Band Radio (UBR) technology delivers high-speed internet using existing Wi-Fi frequencies without requiring conventional cable connections, potentially reducing deployment costs. The company also held discussions with South Africa’s MTN, but negotiations collapsed over valuation and licensing disagreements.
